Privacy Policy

1. Introduction & Commitment to Privacy

Welcome to DecibeldBMeter. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any information collected through your use of our online sound level metering web application.

This Privacy Policy explains how our service handles your microphone audio stream, what information we or our third-party partners may collect, how cookies are utilized, and your privacy rights under applicable data protection regulations including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

We do not record, store, collect, or transmit your audio.

Our online decibel meter operates entirely on the client side using the standard browser Web Audio API and navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia. When you grant microphone permissions:

• Physical sound waves are captured by your device’s internal or external microphone.
• Sound amplitude samples are converted into digital Float32 numbers strictly in your local device RAM.
• Calculations (Root Mean Square and Decibel conversion) are performed instantly in your browser tab.
• No audio files, voice recordings, or ambient noises are ever transmitted over the Internet to our servers or any third-party server.
• The moment you click “Stop” or close your browser tab, all microphone access is immediately terminated and cached audio buffers are erased.

Like most website operators, our hosting infrastructure automatically logs standard internet traffic requests when you load web pages. These server logs may include Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.

This technical information is used exclusively for site maintenance, ensuring network security, mitigating DDoS attacks, and analyzing aggregate technical performance. Log data is not linked to personally identifiable information.

We may utilize third-party advertising companies, including Google AdSense, to serve advertisements when you visit our website. These vendors may use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites:

• Google’s use of advertising cookies: Google and its partners use cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visit to DecibeldBMeter and other sites on the Internet.
• Opting Out of Personalized Advertising: You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (https://www.google.com/settings/ads) or through www.aboutads.info.
• Browser Cookie Controls: You can choose to disable or selectively turn off cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have statutory rights to access, rectify, or erase personal data held about you. Because DecibeldBMeter processes all sound measurements locally without storing audio or creating user accounts, we hold no personal audio or profile records for users.

6. Children’s Online Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Protecting children’s privacy is especially important. Our website is intended for general audiences and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union).

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect legal, regulatory, or technical changes. Any revisions will be posted on this page with an updated date.
